Merthyr Dog Show Success
Hundreds of dog owners and their pets enjoyed a sun and fun-filled day at the second Royvon Annual Dog Show at their Incline Top, Merthyr premises last Saturday (10th May).
The event was staged to raise funds for the Dogs Trust, a major dog rescue charity regularly supported by Royvon Dog training Schools, the UK’s leading providers of residential dog obedience training.
Event organiser, Royvon’s Merthyr director Sarah Draper, said, "We set out to create a family day out for dog owners with competitions, dog obedience demonstrations, and a wide range of stalls and amusements to suit all ages. We were delighted with the turnout and have raised over £500 for the Dog’s Trust who do such vital work in supporting and re-homing rescued dogs."
Local celebrity, actor Jonathan Owen judged the popular novelty classes and the
'Best in Show' winner was a Pembrokeshire Corgi (Rupert) shown by Kristian Williams from Castle Street, Pentrebach, Merthyr Tydfil. Kristian’s grandmother Brenda Frost also won ‘Best Adult handler’.
Brenda said, "We had a really lovely day out and we were thrilled to have won two prizes.”
Other attractions on the day included free dog training advice from Royvon’s
Trainers and the opportunity to be photographed with a giant python "Fred".
Royvon director Darren James said, “Our business success is based on enhancing the lives of dogs and their owners through effective obedience training. However we are delighted to run this family event for dog owners in the Merthyr area with the big bonus of raising money for a really worthwhile charity.”
